Replace aging septic system that was failing inspections and risking lake contamination
Design a code-compliant tertiary treatment system within 30 metres of the shoreline
Minimize disruption to mature landscaping and existing dock structures
Complete installation before winter freeze to meet municipal compliance deadline

Conducted comprehensive soil percolation testing across 8 test points to map subsurface drainage patterns
Designed a Type B tertiary treatment system with UV disinfection, approved by the Muskoka District Health Unit
Carefully excavated and removed the old 3,000L concrete tank using a compact excavator to preserve surrounding birch trees
Installed a new 4,500L polyethylene treatment tank with effluent pump chamber and distribution system
Constructed a raised sand filter leaching bed with proper geotextile layering and inspection ports
Performed final grading, topsoil application, and native seed mix restoration across the disturbed area

High water table required dewatering pumps running continuously during tank installation
Narrow access road limited equipment size, requiring a smaller excavator and multiple material deliveries
Environmental setback requirements from the lake demanded a custom raised-bed design to meet treatment standards
